Course Notes: TPC Harding Park is set among towering Monterey Cypress trees along the shores of Lake Merced. The course features soft bunkers, graceful undulating fairways, and challenging greens. ---------------------- Hardest Holes ---Hole 4 (Par-5, 607 yards Championship): The #1 handicap and longest hole on the course. A big dogleg left where reaching in two is extremely difficult; laying up is usually the smart choice. ---Hole 2 (Par-4, 466 yards): The #3 handicap - features two left fairway bunkers at 275-305 yards and a mature Cypress tree on the right. "Par is always a good score". ---Hole 18 (Par-4, 468 yards Championship): The #2 handicap and signature finishing hole along Lake Merced. Water runs the entire left side. Site of Tiger Woods' famous Presidents Cup fist pump. ---Hole 14 (Par-4, 440 yards): Plays along Lake Merced and is one of the toughest par 4s. Collin Morikawa's famous chip-in during the 2020 PGA Championship occurred here. ---The Rough: Notoriously thick and penal - "The rough is thick and eats balls. Balls do not make it thru the trees." ------------------------------------------------- Easier Holes/Birdie Opportunities ---Hole 1 (Par-4, 393 yards): Shorter opening par 4 with no bunkers in the fairway - "a good look at what TPC Harding Park offers" with birdie potential. ---Hole 16 (Par-4, 336 yards): The famous driveable par 4 - site of Collin Morikawa's clinching eagle in the 2020 PGA Championship. Risk/reward with significant birdie/eagle potential. ---Hole 10 (Par-5, 550-562 yards): The most birdieable hole - reachable in two for longer hitters. ---Hole 17 (Par-3, 175 yards): The shortest hole on the course, though wind and elevated green make it tricky.
