Description
StoneTree Golf Club in Novato features a modern 30-bay driving range that supports its upscale, championship 18-hole course. The range is part of a state-of-the-art practice facility that includes grass tees year-round (with mats used occasionally), target flags over a 350+ yard deep and 150-yard wide landing area, a pitching green up to 100 yards, a practice bunker with a green, and a large putting green. The driving range is located on a separate parcel south of the golf course at Twowater Trail and is accessed via a shuttle from the clubhouse area, creating a more secluded, quiet practice environment. While the range itself is well-regarded for good-quality mats and balls, some players mention the lack of shade and the extra step of taking the shuttle as minor drawbacks.
Semi-Private — Operated as Bay Club StoneTree within the Bay Club private-club network; primary access via Bay Club memberships, with limited public/guest play through memberships, outings, and select booking platforms.
Step-by-Step Process & Walking Path (Purchase → Dispenser → Range)
ARRIVE & PARK: Drive to 9 Stonetree Lane, Novato, CA and park in the main clubhouse lot.
WALK TO PRO SHOP: From your car, walk up to the clubhouse entrance and into the Pro Shop/front desk area.
CHECK IN & PAY: Tell staff you want to use the driving range; if you are a member they may simply activate range access, otherwise you pay for a small ($8) or large ($15) bucket.
GO TO BALL DISPENSER: Exit the Pro Shop to the practice‑green side of the clubhouse and locate the ball dispenser machine near the putting/chipping greens.
DISPENSE BALLS: Use your token, range card, or member ID/code at the machine to fill your bucket with balls.
WALK TO SHUTTLE PICK‑UP: Carry your bucket back toward the shuttle pick‑up area near the clubhouse/cart‑staging zone, as directed by staff.
SHUTTLE TO RANGE: Board the shuttle, which follows an internal path south of the main course to the separate driving range parcel at Twowater Trail.
WALK TO BAY: Step off the shuttle at the range, walk a short distance to the tee line, choose any open bay, set your bucket down, and begin your practice session.
RETURN: When finished, walk back to the shuttle stop at the range, ride back to the clubhouse, and then walk to your car or to the nearby putting and chipping greens if you want more practice.
