Description
McInnis Park Golf Center is a public, county-owned golf facility located at 350 Smith Ranch Road, San Rafael, CA 94903, in Marin County, Northern California. It features a double-decker lighted driving range that has been consistently ranked among the Top 100 ranges in America and was named a 2020 Golf Range Association of America (GRAA) Top 50 Range in the Stand Alone Category. The facility also includes a 9-hole executive golf course (Par 31, 1,842 yards) designed by Fred Bliss and built in 1993, a practice putting green, a chipping/sand area, an 18-hole miniature golf course, The Club Restaurant, and a full-service Pro Shop.
Driving Range Details
The driving range is a double-decker structure with 52 total hitting stalls spread across two levels. The GRAA listing identifies 47 bays with mats. The lower level has 21 covered stalls, providing rain protection and shade. The upper level has approximately 31 open-air stalls. All bays use high-grade synthetic turfgrass mats, which were renovated in May 2008. Range targets include flags, astroturf greens, and bunkers. The facility receives approximately 250,000 visits per year and dispenses over 5.5 million range balls annually.
Lighted and Covered
-
Lighted: Yes — the range is lit for night use, with hours extending to 9:00 PM, marketed as a place to “hit a bucket of balls after work”.
-
Covered: Partially — the 21 lower-level stalls are covered and dry; the upper-level stalls are open-air.
Technology
Select bays are equipped with Toptracer Range technology — the same shot-tracking system used in professional TV broadcasts. Toptracer captures distance (carry and total), ball speed, launch angle, height, side deviation, landing angle, and hang time. Interactive games include Go Fish, Points Game, Longest Drive, and Closest to the Pin. A Ball Flight Monitor is also listed among facility amenities. Reviewers on 18Birdies confirm: “Also love the TopTracer range. Great spot!”.
